Adelaide's in Ocean Park

I had a chance to stop in at Adelaide's in Ocean Park yesterday. The barista makes a terrific latte and serves it up in a nice porcelain cup and saucer.

But careful- you can't browse the extensive collection of books with your drink in hand. Stay in the coffee shop area- I was firmly told. I was a bit puzzled- because all of the marketing statistics show that when people can sip their coffee- they buy more books. Too bad- the furniture looked so cozy- and the book titles invited some browsing.

Adelaide's Books & Coffee is on the main beach access road -Bay Avenue-in Ocean Park. It is named for the original owner's wife- Adelaide Taylor. The Taylor Hotel Building (built in 1887) is one of the oldest in the area- with an abundance of historical stories. The new owner, Cyndy Hayward, did a really nice job on the restoration.
