Old Fashioned 4th of July Weekend

Tonight, July 2nd... Ilwaco Harbor Port is having fireworks. Brett and I are joining some friends there. The Ocean Park festival is all 3 days...and Long Beach fireworks are on Monday night.

I will be staffing (volunteer) a booth all weekend at the Ocean Park "Old Fashioned 4th of July".

The parade is on Monday.

The Depot

MR DATA Corp is around back. Our home is across the street. The train used to come up the street and stop here. The train ran by the tide tables... The Clamshell Railroad.

Paris ordering a burger on the last burger night of the season. Come back in the fall!

It seems like only yesterday the kids were all home for our summer adventures. This photo was taken in Charlevoix on Lake Michigan in 2000. Where are they now? From left to right... Ryan is in Wash DC(married with a child and one on the way), Madison leaves for an 18 mo world tour with The Rolling Stones in July, Aura is a Peace Corps volunteer in Morocco and Paris starts her sophomore year at Northern Michigan University playing on the nationally ranked volleyball team.

Sandcastles on the beach.

The ladies at the slipper souk in Essaouira take colored rafia and weave them into shoes. See the alladin slippers in the foreground?

"Buta" gas makes the world go round. In Morocco... it is everywhere. No need for electricity.... they just throw these tanks around and everyone cooks with them.

Did I tell you the story of staying in a Brothel? Yes, don't believe the guidebooks!!! But it was very very clean, quiet and very welcoming. No customers that night. And we had the added benefit of being able to dine on the terrace in tank tops, drink wine...and take a long hot bath in a western tub!!!

Everyone has a satellite dish. EVERYONE!

Birthday presents for Aura's 20th birthday.

Lunch at Zoura and Moha's.

New kitchen pots for Aura. A tangine (on left) and a couscousier. The perfect size for 1 or 2 servings.

How they make french fries in Morocco. In the middle of the kitchen floor...with little children running around!!! Then you take all that yummy rancid oil... let it cool...and dip your bread in it. yummmm.

Aaaaa.. at last...civilization in Marrakech. I am enjoying a gin and tonic. (The martini I ordered was dreadful!) Aura and I had a few last hours together.

Most every evening, Calypso joins her friends to play. Posted by Hello
